Shapes and Sizes at the Nomad Tonight

Download: Shapes and Sizes - "Alone Alive"

I had the good fortune of catching Montreal-natives Shapes and Sizes (Asthmatic Kitty) and They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (Kill Rock Stars) last night at the Aquarium in Fargo. Shapes and Sizes simply destroyed with their undefinable "it" factor and captivating stage presence. Lead singer Caila's voice is remarkable and has a classic stage presence reminiscent of, oh, let's say Sleater-Kinney mixed with Frank Sinatra.

Both bands will be playing an ID show at the Nomad World Pub tonight starting at 9pm. You should go!

I saw these guys with April and Jon and we thought they were really not cohesive and pretty bad. :/

Maybe they're improving their live show, though!

Sometimes things are unpopular because they suck.

Shapes and Sizes is one of those things.

Ian-
I think you should do a counterpoint review of April's review, or at least set up a point-counterpoint, AV Club style. I'm curious to see what you see in S&S.

Oh, and Pitchfork is pretty grand, so far.

Maybe you're at P-Fork, but SF stole your Os Mutantes! Did you catch OM at Pitchfork last year?
