Vampire Weekend Transcend All of Music and Humanity on "Saturday Night Live"

("M79", Live on "Saturday Night Live")

Clips of music saviours (praise be to Chris Thompson and his ascension drum fill!) Vampire Weekend's performance from this past weekend's "Saturday Night Live", which was only the second post-writer's strike episode, have been coming and going on YouTube at an alarming rate. Luckily, Redlasso has got us covered, so we can all watch the Brooklyn-based, highly buzzed quartet perform their celestial tunes--a blend of rock and West African pop music which will surely divide musical eras into two parts: B-VW and A-VW.

All snark aside, the group clearly has an infectious, energetic stage presence that translates even on the small (or, in our case, smaller) screen, and the band more than adequately performs two of the better songs from its self-titled debut. Watch clips of "M79" and "A-Punk" at the top of the post.

Video: Feist, "1,2,3,4" and "I Feel It All": Live on "Saturday Night Live"

Feist is so ubiquitous these days that no one need reminding as to who she is or why the part-time Broken Social Scenester is so popular now in the first place. Arguably, you've reached the apex of your popularity when you've been invited to perform on Saturday Night Live, which is what the adorable Canuck was did this past weekend.

You can see for yourself whether or not these performances will bring Feist even more acclaim and record sales (I would imagine that The Reminder will be on a goodly amount of best-of-the-year lists come December) by watching videos of her SNL songs at the top of the post. You can download MP3s of the performances at Deaf Indie Elephants.

No Feist dates for Minneapolis, but she'll be in Chicago on Nov. 17th and Madison on Nov. 16th.

Spoon on "Saturday Night Live"

(Spoon, "The Underdog", SNL)

(Spoon, "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb", SNL)

Spoon, the Austin, TX, band who is in the middle of a tour supporting their MFR approved fifth album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, stopped by Studio 8H to perform a few tunes on Saturday Night Live. Those videos have shown up on YouTube and you can watch them for yourselves.

Also worth noting is that Spoon will be playing in Minneapolis twice, once this coming Wednesday, the 10th, and a second time on Thursday the 11th. Both shows are at First Avenue. The Wednesday show is 21+ and doors open at 8 p.m. The Thursday show, however, is all-ages. Buy tickets either at the venue or through Ticketmaster.
