The Hold Steady - Live on AOL Interface
(The Hold Steady - "Sequestered in Memphis" - Live on "AOL Interface"
Having just heard the nostalgic title track of The Hold Steady's latest release, Stay Positive (which drops tomorrow) on The Current, I was highly curious as to how the new tracks would hold up live, although I'd already had gotten some sneak peaks at some of what would become the new album when the band Chicago last fall.
Apparently, lots of other people are curious as well, not the least of whom are the folks over at AOL Interface, who recently invited the Brooklyn-by-way-of-MPLS quintet, frequently described as the best bar band in America*, to perform on their program. The group play several cuts from its new record, and sit down for an interview segment, during which they discuss how to age gracefully playing rock music, amongst many other topics. You can watch "Sequestered in Memphis" at the top of the post and "Joke about Jamaica" and "Constructive Summer" below.
Stay Positive is out tomorrow. Watch the rest of the Interface sessions here.

*a descriptor I'll never understand, seeing how most bar bands I've seen do poor renditions of early 90s alt-rock. Maybe I missed the golden age of bar bands?
