Idiosyncratic folk-pop sextet Lucy Michelle and The Velvet LaPelles released a delightful little oddity of a new year's video. The clip, titled "Wayne and McGrath" (yay puns!) features the band's namesake--in blue wig, natch--along with someone presumably named McGrath, playing a short little synth pop ditty. Check it out at the top of the post. In other LaPelles news, the group will take part in First Ave's. "Best New Bands of 2008" concert.
Right before that, the group will play a show at a two-horse po-dunk little college called St. Olaf in Northfield, MN. Let's all hope that Ole the lion treats them well. If not, then I'll withhold all that plum alumi cash that I was planning on donating. Let's see how you handle not having that 50 cents now, Olaf!

Well, if their show at olaf is full of wigs, synthesizers, and quirk then the oles will love them. and you can direct that fifty cent deposit to me. i need every penny for my damn tuition bill...
Ha! How much is tuition these days? If I remember correctly, a friend of mine told me that it's up to $40,000 a year?
all of that. i think the last i saw it was at 44K. I'm telling you (in case there is any question) that is fuckin nuts. at least we get some decent musicians that visit every once in a while.
That's totally fucking nuts. When I was at Olaf, tuition was half of that, maybe even less. And I only graduated in 2005. Hope Lucy puts on a hell of a show.
Haha, that's ashley, she's the accordion player...and unfortunatly not too many people came out to st.olaf and I told a really bad story.But it was a fun show none the less. We're glad you guys like our strange sideways video, hopefully the next one will be rightside up.
