Saturday Looks Good To Me is the brainchild of Fred Thomas, a Michigan-based singer-songwriter who has an tirelessly experimental artistic ethos. But don't take my word for it. Check out this statement about the band's live show, taken from the band's MySpace page:
We are often joined by friends, neighbors, ex-band members, spirits, spiritcatchers and other sonic survivors. Don't expect to see the same band twice

That almost lackadaisical, but at the same time intensely focused, approach to band members also applies to the music itself. SLGTM offers everything from baroque pop symphonies to straight-up R&B to feedback-laden guitar freakouts, and have done so for six albums now (in six years, on almost six different labels).

However, it seems as if album number seven, Fill Up The Room, that's poised to bring the group more attention than ever. The record, after a month-and-a-half delay or so, will be finally be coming out on K Records on Oct. 23rd.

The song from Room that's been made available for download, "Make A Plan", is a swaying, flamenco-flavored piece of indie-pop that, in part, contemplates one's place in the universe. It is over a doo-wop chorus that the key lyric of the song "God is always laughing every time you make a plan/so you can never really know" (incidentally, a similar sentiment inspired the title of Death Cab For Cutie's last album, Plans). From there, the band adds organ, chromatic guitar lines, and a four-on-the-floor drumbeat that would do Phil Spector proud.

As previously stated, Fill Up The Room will be available next Tuesday, the 23rd. Pre-order here.

Saturday Looks Good To Me
