Kristoff Krane To Play Soundset 2009, Releases New Songs

Kristoff Krane announced earlier in the year that he's due to release two new EPs in the late April/early May, one as himself, and one as ABZORBR, his more atmospheric, but similarily hip-hop alter-ego. Now, Krane has revealed, via MySpace, that he's posted a few new tracks from both EP3, the ABZORBR release that sees the light of the digital-only day on May 23rd, and from his EP as Kristoff Krane, Picking Flowers Next To Road Kill.

The song from Kill, "Leave The Summer," is a sparse number, with an acoustic guitar, and a soft, skipping beat straight out of trip-hop. Krane's flow is a bit reminscent of Lupe Fiasco's. The other tracks, from EP 3, are a little heavier, both musical and lyrically, with Krane experimenting with distorted textures, church organ, and a minimalist, almost dystopian take on hip-hop. Listen to the tracks on his MySpace, then congratulate him on making the Soundset 2009 lineup.

Soundset '09 Lineup Announced (Naturally, When I Took A Sick Day)

Hey there, MFR readers. I had me a sick day yesterday, and I probably couldn't have picked a worse time. Not only was it 70 degree weather here in the Chi, but several stories leaked yesterday, the biggest one being, of course, the full mainstage line-up for Soundset 2009. Last year's edition was a smashing success, and this year's edition should be equally as excellent, new location and all

Check out the confirmed main stage lineup right here:

Atmosphere, MF Doom, Brother Ali, Sage Francis with B. Dolan, Immortal Technique, P.O.S, El P featuring Mr. Dibbs, Eyedea & Abilities, Abstract Rude and I Self Devine.

That reads like veritable who's who of Rhymesayers talent. But wait, there's more! Including a special ticket offer, and a whole fuck-ton of details surrounding drop off areas, what grown-ups can do, and an afterparty. For all of that, go here.

No word on lineups, or anything of that nature, but as soon as word leaks, we will let you know. In the meantime, check out a video for last year's Soundset at the top of the post.
