Video: Atmosphere - "Shrapnel" (Live at Coachella, with interview at festival)

(Atmosphere - "Shrapnel" - Live at Coachella 2009)

(via)

If you weren't able to attend this weekend's Coachella festival, well, count yourselves as being one of many. The painted gold on that lemon is that videos from the hotter-than-hell (in terms of both popularity and actual temperature) festival have begun surfacing on YouTube. Above you'll see a video of Atmosphere, who played in 2006, performing "Shrapnel," from the recently released record God Loves Ugly.

Below is footage from an interview that Atmosphere emcee Slug did with 91xrocks, a radio station (they still exist?) based out of San Diego.

Apparently, polka is real huge up in the MPLS.

That's news to us. Although, now that you mention it...

Prince Covers Radiohead's "Creep" During Coachella Festival Performance

Amazing find from Stereogum of the Purple One covering Radiohead's first and biggest hit from their least artistically-relevant record (arguably). I think Prince could have made a pretty good go at "Thinking About You"--Pablo Honey's introspective, acoustic number about masturbation. After all, it's a subject that Mr. Rogers Nelson knows a thing or two about--but this soulful rendition of the mock self-loathing classic still does the ears good. This might even top his previous dabbling in alt-rock. What's next on Prince's wishlist of the 90s? Perhaps he could do "Sex Type Thing" in the same kind of screeching falsetto that he used for "Kiss". And then, a decade-and-a-half later, Tom Jones can cover it.

On second thought, that sounds like a terrible sequence of events.

Live Bjork From Coachella, "Declare Independence"

Like you fine folks, I was too poor and too not willing to travel out to listen to indie-rock in the hot Californian sun to go to Coachella this year (or past). Luckily, I managed to find this excellent video of Bjork performing one of the new songs from her album Volta . The song is called "Declare Independence." Weep for the fact that you couldn't go, then enjoy this video.

UPDATE: And, by special request, here is Bjork performing "Earth Intruders" from her recent gig on Saturday Night Live.
