On sale Friday: Nas

Even though Ticketmaster lists no Minneapolis date for one Nasir Jones, who recently released his controversially untitled album on Tuesday, tickets for the Fall show, with Jay Electronica and DJ Green Latern go on sale today. Let's say at, oh, 10 a.m. Though Nas may have arguably peaked with his debut album Illmatic, which is widely regarded as one of rap's classic albums from the 90s and the archetype of East Coast Hip-Hop (some of which help spearhead the mafioso rap movement), Nas' blend of dense, verbally intricate lyricism, hardcore beats, and provocative social-consciousness have proved to be irresistible focal points even on supposedly lesser albums like Stillmatic and its predecessor, Hip-Hop is Dead. Nas might have gotten bit with the commercial bug a bit too much around the late 90s--how else to explain the collaboration "Hate Me Now" with Puff Daddy--but, early this decade, Nas manage to regain the plot, and subsequent releases since then have garnered praise from fans and critics alike (though they still insist that none of them top Illmatic).

Details about the event are here.
