The first single from Death Cab for Cutie's upcoming effort, Narrow Stairs, was leaked to the internet today. I'm gonna hold off on making my opinion known on this track, due to the fact that this song will probably make the Elbo.ws charts its slave for the next couple of weeks. I will say this: the atmospheric opening to this 8-minute epic sounds a goodly amount like the opening to Wilco's "Heavy Metal Drummer". The piano chords are certainly similar.
Narrow Stairs is out in May.

Epic. Can't even describe my feelings on this song. I will say Death Cab has never failed to make some great music.

I disagree. It is a boring bass groove and beat to repeat for so long. also the lyrical material doesn't particularily fit the mood of the music. they are really kind of overcooking old ideas that have been done better by other bands... unfortunetly there is nothing to new or inspiring about it all. kind of dissappointing... but i never understood why they got so much attention anyhow.
I'm not a DCFC hater, but am really disappointed in this song. I haven't heard a song this devoid of life or creativity in a long time. In fact, the album isn't much good either.
