John Vanderslice Appreciation Post
Download: John Vanderslice - "Tablespoon of Codeine"
Last night marked the third time I saw John Vanderslice live (once at the Entry in Minneapolis, once at Schuba's in Chicago, and last night with Malkmus). Looking around at the crowd during Vanderslice's set, I couldn't help but feel that the deep appreciation I hold for JV wasn't shared by those around me. That's not to say that people weren't into it, I just think they weren't as into it as they should have been.
So, I thought I would make a you-should-really-like-John-Vanderslice post.
You can pick up all of his records HERE.

i was there too. i was one of the few people singing along with vanderslice. my second time seeing him and have listened to him for a few years now. i think he's great. he was actually the reason i went last night. not a huge malkmus fan.
Eh. Every time I see JVDS, he just seems stoned. That and he has this homogenizing influence on everything he touches, and I resent that.
"Tablespoon of Codeine" is definitely one of the better songs from that record.

April,
Out of curiousity, are you referring to his own albums? What feels homogenized? His production work?
Can not say I agree. .
Eh
