Chicago in Minneapolis: Russian Circles at the Triple Rock

Download: Russian Circles - "Death Rides A Horse" (from Enter)

One of Chicago's most heavy, progressive bands is playing tonight at the Triple Rock. Russian Circles are an instrumental post-metal trio from the Windy City who will be releasing their debut album for Suicide Squeeze, Station (Bill & Ted reference?), out in May. The trio, who recently picked up former These Arms Are Snakes bassist Brian Cook, are renowned for their intense live shows, which both dutifully recreate, and expand upon, their recorded repertoire (granted, that's only two albums, but it's impressive nonetheless) using sound loops and pedals. For those who like their metal to be more thoughtful and reflective, in addition to still kicking some mighty ass, this is not a show to miss.

Doors are at 9 pm. for a 21+ show. Tickets are $12.
