Futurama Movie Premiere: Bender's Big Score
Yesterday marked the dawning of a new era: The Second Coming of Futurama.
The official premiere of the full-length "Futurama" film, "Bender's Big Score," took place in L.A. last night. The movie will be released to DVD Nov. 27.
Bender's Big Score tells the story of the Planet Express crew as they fight to free Earth from nudist Internet scam artists from outer space. The whole gang will be back: Fry, Leela, Bender, Professor Farnsworh, Amy, Hermes, Zoidberg (my favorite, by the way), the Nibblonians, Morbo, Kwanzaabot (portrayed by Coolio), Zapp, God and Al Gore.
On a personal note, I've been waiting for this moment since 2003, when "Futurama" got canned. I'm so excited that…well, I dunno. I mean really, watching "Futurama" with my friends was the one good thing about middle school. I'm glad it's coming back.
I made an attempt to find some musical highlights from the series on YouTube, but could only find shitty fan overdubs, "Futurama" audio with anime visuals and other "tributes" to the show's greatness. But "Futurama" has always sported the funniest songs in the TV biz, as well as hilarious cameos from the likes of Beck and the Beastie Boys.
While I was unsuccessful at locating actual songs, the movie trailer is below. All glory to the Hypnotoad!
