The Flamings Lips' eternal jam "Do You Realize?" will now jam eternal in the hearts of all Oklahomans. Yesterday, the state passed that it shall be the new official Oklahoma state song. This actually happened, no joke. Read a bit more on NME.

The Flaming Lips' Christmas On Mars To Have 2008 SXSW Premiere - Maybe

If all goes as planned by Wayne Coyne and company, then The Flaming Lips long-gestating film project "Christmas On Mars" should see the light of day in Spring 2008, at the South-By-Southwest film festival. That's at least what Coyne told Billboard Magazine

Here's a Coyne quote about what needs to be done in order for the film to be shown. From the article:

Coyne says the Lips are currently working on final editing and transferring the film into a High Definition format, adding "some in-depth special effects" in the process. Once it's premiered, he envisions taking "Christmas on Mars" on a kind of "tour;" rather than simply showing it in theaters, Coyne wants to hold special screenings to give fans "a Flaming Lips experience of another kind."

"I want the Flaming Lips audience to shape this," Coyne explains. "It'll be like our live show, which evolves as it goes. We'll show it to the audience and let them talk out there on message boards, and then maybe we'll take that and go back and change it and put it out there again and see what they think. It'll be a different experience than sitting at home and watching a DVD, for sure. I don't know if a lot of bands can do that, but the Flaming Lips sure can."

Coyne then goes on to explain that once the band is done with >Christmas, they will move on to recording the follow-up to last year's disappointing At War With The Mystics.

Flaming Lips On "Sound Opinions," Good Luck Chuck Soundtrack

The Flaming Lips were recent guests on NPR program "Sound Opinions" and they were gracious enough to do a performance of "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots" from the album of the same name. You can listen to it at the top of this post and listen to the show in its entirety here.
