Being prolific, in a musical sense, has its ups and downs. A positive is that everyone usually fawns obsessively about how much creative material you put out in a given calendar year. A negative is that said material is more often spotty, with bright lights of greatness threatening to be overshadowed by half-formed ideas and filler. So give Say Hi, and its creative leader, Eric Elbogen, credit for being able to release five albums worth of engagingly quirky, lo-fi, sci-fi heavy indie-pop roughly every year since the group's inception in 2002. It's latest release, the recently released The Wishes And The Glitches, is regarded by some as its best album yet. It's easy to see why, with tracks like "Northwestern Girls" retaining the electo-pop melodiousness of past releases, while reveling a newfound maturity through Elbogen's crooning vocals.
Tickets are $10 for an 18+ show at the Triple Rock. Doors are at nine. Minneapolis' own Now, Now Every Children* and Shorline open.
